Sunday, March 8th is Daylight Savings....Spring ahead? I certainly hope so!

Here is a check list that will pertain to most all of us:

  • The obvious is to move your clocks ahead one hour and replace clock batteries
  • Replace batteries in smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors
  • Make an appointment to have your air conditioner serviced
  • Test fire extinguishers (can become useless over time)
  • Review family emergency plan-what to do, where to go in case of emergency
  • Check exterior door locks (these can become jammed in cold weather)
  • Check/replace exterior light bulbs
  • Replace batteries in flashlights
  • Review programmable thermostats
  • Check dryer ventilation-clean/remove lint *TIP* cover hose end with pantyhose this will block any large debris that has the potential to get stuck
  • Change furnace filters
  • Vacuum refrigerator coils-check water filters inside
  • Septic maintenance
  • Check/replace expired items in First Aid kit
  • Check/replace expired items in Medicine cabinet
  • Check the pan under the water heater - if water heater could be leaking
  • Review Homeowners Insurance Policy

In the case that Spring actually does arrive there are many more home maintenance/safety measures I will share with you. Stay tuned for the Spring Cleaning Blog.
